Introduction

Rebecca Ariyo is a marketing strategist with over 15 years of experience looking to make an impression on the fintech industry within the U.K. and West Africa through her company Olori Marketing.

The Problem

Native to her Nigerian roots, Rebecca discovered Olóri  has duel translation within the Yorùbá tribe and could be misinterpreted depending on the context and usage. The original brand identity for Olori Marketing embodied royalty and exclusivity which was the exact opposite of leadership and community — what she was trying to convey.

The Solution

Rebecca and I sat together for two meetings totaling 8 hours to find out what's holding her back from success.

Three months after our two-day meeting, Rebecca attracted her first paying client which reflected the ideal client that we defined together.

For the sake of humanizing a group of people in the U.K., we agreed on calling Rebecca's ideal client Tom, "the techie reformist".

Tom wants a slick marketing campaign that builds excitement and retains attention. When Tom looks for outside help, he finds it difficult to connect with people who understand the tech landscape enough to have an in-depth conversation about it. As a result, he's been burned by agencies and consultants in the past who promised results and fell short of delivery.
